Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 12:34AM Los Angeles champ BRIDE OF ROCK (Janice Gomez) has, like most of us, spent much of her life working with juvenile minds. It's air guitar, people. For her part, she's not only the LA champ but she's also married to 2005 US Champ THE ROCKNESS MOTHERFUCKING MONSTER (Fatima Hoang).
So doesn't it make perfect sense that she's now teaching l'art de l'air guitare to children age 7-9? She's instructing a class Monday afternoons this spring for the nonprofit Armory Center for the Arts. Sign up that little bugger of yours ASAP because registration closes very soon. Here's the blurb:
The art of air guitar goes beyond pretending to play the guitar and lip-syncing. Create a rock persona including a name, costume, poster designs, and even merch. Everyone will choreograph their own routine and perform it at the end of the session. Sign that little bastard up and he'll kick some fucking ass in no time.
OK, maybe I edited a little bit toward the end.

Air Guitar savant BJÖRN TÜROQUE (Dr. Daniel Crane, Ph.D), star of "Air Guitar Nation" and US Air Guitar host and Air Guitar World Championships host and once World Dark Horse Champion and author of To Air is Human and Whisky Daddy and and and and . . .
–Has released a new album with The Quick Hellos and it fucking rocks. Download the free track and full EP, "Greetings & Salutations," immediately.
There's a big ass EP release party that has been rescheduled for LA's Silver Lake Lounge on April 14th (2906 Sunset Blvd at the intersection of Sunset and Parkman Ave., duh). Don't miss it.

THE SHRED (Lance Kasten), made popular by his cameo in the hit documentary "Air Guitar Nation" (now streaming on Netflix) and several appearances on the US Championship stage – before being made immortal by shaking the free world epileptic in one of the greatest regional competitions in my history of competitive air guitar – has now brought humanity within a short stick of curing cancer.
Reports 24/7LAX, "The final surprise, or should I say treat, was the half-time festivities. The Guinness Book of World Records was on had to see the record for largest air guitar ensemble fall courtesy of the lax faithful on-hand. Washington, DC Air Guitar Champion, Lance "The Shred" Kasten was on hand to lead the crowd, and lead the fans he did! As his nickname suggests, this guy can flat out shred. Mix one part 50 year-old rocker, a six pack of 5 Hour Energy, and some Pat Benatar and you got The Shred."
What follows is the transcript from an exclusive interview last week when THE SHRED sat down with us over e-mail.
USAG BLOG: Dude, 'sup?
SHRED: Dudes!!
Hope all is well. Towson State University called me a few months ago and invited me to participate in this event held a few weeks ago on Saturday, February 19th. It was the opening game of the lacrosse season and all proceeds from the game would benefit the HEADstrong Foundation This is an organization founded by Hofstra University lacrosse player Nicholas Colleluori in 2005. Well known throughout the lacrosse community, the HEADstrong Foundation is an organization committed to finding a cure for all blood cancers. To get more folks to come to the game, they wanted to try to break the Guinness World Book of Records for the largest air guitar ensemble with yours truly leading the crowd at halftime. Of course I agreed and here is the vid (3/4 way down the page) and some pictures from their site.
It was a huge success and the crowd really rocked the joint. One funny issue was they gave me a $1000 wireless microphone to talk to the crowd. I told them that where I come from, air guitar is considered a sport and that would be a BAD idea. When they asked why I said because it’s going to get broke. They laughed and said whatever. Check out the video at around the 2:09 minute mark where the microphone gets broke in ½ between the windmill and 360 triple hop move. I warned them!!
Anyway, because of air guitar they literally doubled attendance and raised a boatload of money for their cause.
BTW-There was a severe wind warning in MD that day (no shit) with winds exceeding over 55 mph. Of course our winds blew that away!
This is what rock and air are all about people!
Look forward to seeing you on the road boyz,
